Crafting my way through life - one adventure at a time.

Hi! I'm LisaDV. Thanks for stopping by. This is my life, crazy and chaotic most of the time, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Husbands Are Funny

In honor of my husband's birthday on June 18th and father's day on June 19th, these Friday Funnies are for/about him.

He's an excellent driver (Rain Man pun intended).

I often joke with my husband that while working outside he could get his arm cut off, he'd pick it up sew it on himself and keep going. But a sniffle he thinks I should take him to the ER, call the morgue, arrange the funeral.  I will say he doesn't really get the same sympathy he did before kids and he has taken that like a champ with no whining.

Nope, but he'll put it away in some place I'd never think to look thinking that is where it goes.

um, cold hands too.  ha.

and the accolades must ensue to ensure future work.

Yeah, this sounds like something we might say to one another.  Then the other one laughs and professes, "I love you!", which you know comes from the inner soul.

I will and I do!  Definitely means love coming from me. He knows it too.

He's definitely my soulmate. No one else could put up with me.

Have a terrific weekend everyone!

Working Through The Project

My shoulder injury from the 3rd/4th felt well enough that I ran errands and started doing a bit more house chores last Thursday which, of course, led to me re-injuring the shoulder. ugh.

The up side is that I was still able to work more on my Christmas Project.  Digi-scrapping of 2007 Christmas layouts continued. Here they are:

See that angled paper - I made my own clipping mask for it.  I was proud of myself.  I also made my own cardstock for this project.

LOVE this picture of my daughter throwing her little fit. Yeah, I was one of those mom's that laughed when she started throwing them.

Now that I've uploaded these I see the first one needs either something on the paint swash or it should be removed. I was placing an ornament on it but then decided the ornament banner would work better.  One of the pros of digi is I can rework this layout without ruining the page. Here's the rework.

Took less than 5 minutes.

My layout goal for this year was 48.  ....dramatic pause.....    And my grand total for layouts this year ....drum roll.........   is 53.

Yep, pretty stoked about it. Hubs even let me put photoshop elements on his laptop so that I can create while we're visiting family later this month.  woo hoo.

WOYWW 366 - Straight to it.

Wednesday. Time for the weekly snooping of the desks.

The left side:
Under the paper cutter is the things purchased last week that need to be put away. To the right is scraps that I'm trying to decide if I should put in the scrap drawer or make something with them.  At the top is some print and cut items some from the silhouette shop and some from digital element kits.

And the right side:
My current in progress layout. My daughters roll of toilet paper that she is turning into an eyeglass holder. This is setting on top of some really beautiful ATCs that I've received this week.

Wishing our normal host Julia a speedy recovery from her surgery, and linking up with our lovely Lunch Lady Jan who is graciously hosting WOYWW in Julia's absence and keeping us apprised of her health.

Who Doesn't Love A Sale?

I know that I do. I used to find that if it was on sale I wanted to buy it whether I needed it or not.  ha. I've learned since that long ago time and a full craft room that not everything is a bargain and to be more selective.  However, the other day I went in to Joann's for perler beads for my dd's birthday. Of course, I had to peruse the scrapbook aisles.  Lo and behold, clearance items!!! Well, I can't very well pass up clearance prices on some quality items that I would use if they were in my stash, now can I?!

At 1.97 each these stencils were definitely a steal.

Here's the back packaging so you can see what comes in each package.
Some embossing folders. 1.97 for all, except one had an open package and the clerk gave me a damaged price for it. Score even more!
The Teresa Collins punch I'd been eyeing and wanting, but even with a 40% off coupon, I couldn't make myself buy it. But at a clearance price of 4.97, you betcha I want it.  The label stickers were 0.97, the wood veneer words 1.97. They had a few more wood veneers but with everything already in my cart I decided against them. It was hard. Hard, I tell you. I really like wood veneer. They had a set of the wonky circle with words cut out and burnt in. I never use them, but I always want them. By not putting them in my cart, it was a WIN.  I have some dies. The one on the left was 9.97, originally 19.99 so not a great clearance price but look at it. It was also the last one.  The other was down to 3.97.

Overall a really decent haul.

But wait there's more......
What's better than clearanced? Free, of course!
I was chosen/picked as one of the Scrapbook.com iNSD color challenge winners!!! I know, crazy, right?  This was the layout I submitted.
I used Pink Paislee Pen Pal Collection, 365 Washi, Jen Hadfield Home+Made ephemera pack, Teresa Collins heart enamel dots; Studio Calico wood veneer hearts; button from stash, Studio Calico sequins, Shimelle enamel dots, Faber Castell gelatos, HS Favorite Things Ephemera pack, Maya road wood clothes pin, Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather flair, Glossy Accents, Want2Scrap black pearls, Hero Arts - Basic Grey Lucille Stamps, MME Follow Your Heart - Be Happy Button Collection.

So thankful they picked my layout. This is what I received.

Look at those gorgeous cardstock colors. This pack has a sampling of the smooth, dotted, and textured cardstock. The quality is as good as AC's cardstock too. I didn't expect the 6x6 pad which is oh, so pretty or the slick writer.   Thank you Scrapbook.com!

Not at the end yet. Now it's on to the digital items.

By now, most of the scrapbook digi world or those that dabble in both will know that Pixels and Company are closing their doors.  It's sad to lose another scrap store.  They have almost all their merchandise at 75% off, some discounts were even higher.  I really had a tough time narrowing down all of the great supplies to something I didn't feel horrible spending. I also went and purchased a few things from the Digital Press that were on sale while I was at it.

The top 2 rows is Jen Allyson's Vanity Fair Persimmon collection which had been on my wish list forever. The bottom LJS Summer Fun At a Luau pieces were from tDP shop.

The Hello June came from tDP (3rd row down, 3rd in from left).  Look at all that digi goodness. The Christmas kit is already in use which makes me even happier.

Obviously, I love a sale, clearance and free!

Sometimes it takes being injured to scrapbook

One of my goals for May was to scrap some of our Christmas memories.  I'm really bad at event scrapping! Recently I purchased some gold 12x12 albums just for these holiday pages.  I had worked a few pages from 2012 and printed photos for, I think, 2014.  All other years, I thought I'd do digitally.  Well, May came and went in a whirlwind of activity that did not allow for all of the layout completion I hoped for.

--I often have much grander plans than humanly possible for myself. Planning too much to do in a short time frame. Do you suffer from that too? My husband has taken to just saying 'ok, but if it doesn't work out like you planned, just don't be upset' whenever I tell him our next set of plans or my plans.

Whilst attacking some of our house chores on Saturday, I ended up rehurting my shoulder. An old injury from 2011, which I had to have PT for in 2012. This meant Sunday, I was not allowed to lift anything and wore a sling most of the day. Actually I'm still resting it but have done much more today.

What better way to spend the time than digi scrapping?!!  Well, first, with the sad news of Pixels and Company closing, I did some shopping there and at the Digital Press. Priorities!  Tomorrow, I'll share all of the goodies, including some IRL scrapping things.

Today is Monday. Monday is reserved for sharing my layouts.  Yesterday, I created 5 layouts for my 2007 Christmas pages. I'm using a Designer Digital Katie Pertiet Album Template set. I love starting with templates and changing them to fit my needs. I'm using Celeste Knight's Believe Christmas elements and papers. I'm creating my own cardstock to go with them. I also have used a Just Jamie - CU - mini mix element (paint swash).

My digital pages always seem simple to me. I just get the photos, story and a few things on the template and call it done. I think it's partially because I don't have my digi stash as organized as it should be. I still feel good to have the stories completed though.

WOYWW 365

It's Wednesday! Time to sneak a peak at everyone's desk.  The best part is you aren't going to be called a busy-body. You are actually encouraged to snoop! How great is that!?!  If you haven't played before, don't be shy, jump over to Jan's to link up this week. (Usually we're hosted by Julia, who we hope is recovering well after her surgery yesterday.)

OK, you want to see my desk.
Quite the mess, I know. A layout in progess on the bottom right a stack of bills and papers to be gone through. The working stack of papers and notions are on the left. In that mess you can also spy a bit of my ATCs.

These were my first EVER ATCs. I know they are rather simple as I got the hang of it. But they are quickly addicting!

I then made a shabby chic version to send to my "*" friend. I'll actually be mailing.

I actually have *Cindy A's, Kelly H's, and Lynne M's left to go out. Living in a small town, our post is only open a couple of hours a day, and with the holiday and our life schedules, Friday will be the first day for the errand.

Is it Cra-zy that I have already come up with a concept for next years swap???  Plus several others. I could see these little pieces taking over my life.  Good thing I really don't have any time. That's it for me. Off to see some desks.
