WOYWW 387

Apologies to all those who left a comment here last week, as I didn't get back to anyone.  I did finish my swap on Friday. Hubs returned from work that afternoon and proceeded to get sick on Saturday morning. This led to my computer being in use most of the day and always when I wanted to surf the net. Today he is back at work though. Then whatever he brought in had my son and daughter both sick by Saturday evening. I held out until yesterday. Fun stuff.

Today, I will be making as many rounds as I can. Here is my desk. Yesterday, my stamping desk was piled high with stuff, and I decided it was time to clean it off. So my craft desk is the sorting zone of stuff that has yet to be put away. This is a combination of newly purchases, recently and not so recently used, and ephemera for pages yet to come.  There is still a small pile on the stamping desk to get through and A Lot of Stuff was already put away which gives you an idea how deep the pile on the other desk really was. Hoping I can make some progress cleaning in the craft area this week.

WOYWW 386

It's Wednesday's workdesk sharing day! Our favorite day of the week.

Today my photo is not of my desk as this Wednesday morning caught me a bit off guard. Funny how the days of the week can sneak up on you like that.

I have been working on my swap items. I showed my altered rolodex card last week. This week I finished the accent cards with a halloween theme.

The moon was wiped with wink of stella for a sparkle and the windows filled in with glossy accents.

I still have Accent cards with a snarky saying, Accent cards with a hexagon and a handmade embellishment using a ticket to all be finished by Friday.  So I will be visiting desks over the weekend since I'm down to the wire on my swaps. (I really wish real life wouldn't get in the way of my crafting time.)

Have a wonderful week!

WOYWW 385

Good morning to all! I'm hoping that this year hasn't rushed past you as it seems to have me. I'm a little in awe this morning that there is only 2 plus a little less than 1/2 a month left of the year.  But you are not here to listen to complaints of time slippage or my laments over the fast pace of life.  You came over today because Wednesday is the day we show off our workdesk in the crafty world.  My desk this week was all with stolen pieces of sporadic seconds. Here is my desk.

The 4 page layout I finished was put to the side as I rushed to create some altered rolodex cards in a fall theme for a swap due in 9 days. Nothing like jumping in early to get things completed! lol. They are in the middle section of the desk (another photo is below) . Then late into last night I started pondering the rest of the swap components which my ideas are in the smattering of the desk middle.  On the left you will see some banner kits from Target. I thought I'd put together a Halloween Banner. On the far right is some pattern papers a cardstock that I picked up at the local hardware/grocery store. Yes, I said hardware/grocery store!  Blew my mind too! I've already used a few of those sheets before and love the colors.

Here are my rolodex cards in all of their glory.  I like how they turned out.

Thanks for visiting my workdesk. I've had a lot going on over the last few weeks and have been late to several desks, not even hitting them all. Hope to hit everyone this week, however, it still may take a couple of days.

WOYWW 384

Hello, deskers!  Today I have quite the mess for your viewing pleasure!

While we were away last weekend for the Art Prize viewing, I received a message from a swap host. I guess I had signed up for a swap when she was needing 1 more person and had forgotten about it. Yikes. So this desk shot is the frenzy of activity that arose from me trying to complete the skinny border and title swap items to get in the mail this week.

I had over a month if I would have remembered. I kept feeling like I might have signed up for another swap somewhere, but for the life of me couldn't find or figure out where it was. I thought it was another ATC swap.   Oh, well, they are done and I'm actually fairly happy with them. So today, I get to finish off the grape jelly and start making applesauce -- Two things I've been putting off whilst working on swaps.

Linking up over at Julia's. Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW 383 - When You Think You're Finished, But You're Not

When I wok this morning, my immediate thought was to finish my current crafty project. With the horrendous mess, I then decided I should clean it up so I could start my next layout. As my baby wipe is wiping my non-stick craft mat, this thought ran through my head, "YIKES! It's Wednesday! I should have left the mess!"

Sorry! I know it's so much more interesting to see the mess than a clean -ish desk.

I've been a crafty fool this week. I had 2 projects where I thought I was finished, but the more I looked at them, the more I wasn't satisfied and had to add to it.
First was my 8x8 calendar swap.

It was ok looking in the above form, but it was just missing that little extra. So I reprinted the calendar smaller and matted it and used Thickers for the month and year. Much Better!

The next one was this layout. It was part of a challenge. I had to use the layered top element and the ribbon border with it attached to something. It just didn't scream done to me. So I added the stamp next to the ribbon, the tag under the burlap banner, and the string in the banner. Much better.

Our uncle is getting an honor flight to DC today. It's related to his service in the military. So I made 3 quick cards to send to him with thanks.

I finished my journaling spots for a swap this morning.

Busy, busy, busy.  I will be visiting desks later this week, but I won't have time today.  Linking up to the Stamping Ground's What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

WOYWW 382

I can't believe how little I've accomplished in the week it's been. Yet, I've been busy. Today, you see the clean desk from last week in it's first throw-up mode. If I can keep it cleaned up between projects that stays in first throw-up mode. If I work on top of remnants of other project we move on to 2nd and 3rd throw-up mode.

Since last week, I received some happy mail and put it away. Finished a layout and put away the stuff to make said layout. The layout is under the pile of stamps at the far left of the desk. Shared in my last post if you want to see.   This is mainly my 8x8 calendar swap in progress. The little leprechaun's probably give away that my month is March. My dd watched me add glossy accents to little parts of the fussy cut figures yesterday and exclaimed her love for me after ahhing over the bottle.  It ROCKS having a person who gets and enjoys crafting living in the same house!!!  The kid's Bible memory work box ended up on here too since yesterday. My "has to be completed by Sunday layout challenge information" is in the top right corner of the desk. I'm struggling with the exact concept to take this one, so it sets there as a reminder to mull it over in the back of my mind.

That's my desk. Linking to the Stamping Ground so I can be off to see all the other creative desks this week.

WOYWW 381 - Waiting to Get Messed Up

Hello deskers and other friends,

Today is Wednesday, which means I share what's on my workdesk. You can also see other desks by visiting Julia's blog here.

After weeks of mess, I finally cleaned up after the mess of last week.  Well, as clean as this desk gets. This is what it looked like Tuesday afternoon.

So on the top is a line of essentials that are always left out. My hot glue gun, a couple of inks, my current drink (today's black cherry sparkling water), a printout of my current challenges, my atg, and bits that seem to stay on the far  right upper corner, usually embellishments that didn't get used or have just a bit left get put here to see if they make it on the next crafty session things. In between my inks and my water are a few supplies that I took out for working on my 8x8 calendar swap. I need to get started so thought having these out would help me along. The layout in progress has been stuck under a pile for - I can't even remember how long. It's awaiting me to cut with my silhouette. I have my ATC's there as I was getting ready to mail them off. Here's the close up.

I started with a shaving cream ink print, used an orange-ish paint with a stencil, then gesso with a different stencil, then distress ink with a different stencil and then distress ink with a rubber stamp. The image was stamped on tissue, colored with copics, and cut out. Then adhered. After drying, I applied wink of stella to the hat feathers for sparkle and the gem earring and neck brooch.

Last thing on the desk is the book in far bottom right corner, I had searched the upstairs closet, the shed, and every place I could think of looking for this book. It's the science book we were going to use this year. I found the Astronomy book that we never did. But not this book. I gave up on finding it and was researching another option online. Luckily I did not purchase anything. When I went to wake my son this morning, it was right beside his bed. He reads science and history books for fun. He reads other stuff as well - as he says he's a geek not a nerd. lol. So I took it down to start prepping the material.

It's good to have a clean desk to mess up again!  Look for next week's messy desk!

Thanks for visiting!

WOYWW 380 - Back in the Saddle Again.

Hello Deskers!  I've missed 3 whole weeks of posting and desk viewing as I took a ONE week vacation with my family. What? Yes, it took me a week to prepare for vacation, a week to go on vacation, and a week to get things back to as normal as they seem to be in my house. Oh, plus we started school. (I homeschool.)

OK, so you're not here to hear me bather on, but to see the state of my desk.....cringing.....
so here it is.

So I'm currently working on an inspirational quote ATC swap (yes, the deskers got me hooked with their annual ATC swap that I joined this year.) There is such a small work space on this big ole' desk. The left side has a stamped image on tissue paper still resting on my stamping pad which is laying on top of a pile of stamps and ink and stamp blocks and my trimmer and part of my tape gun. The far right has a pile of things brought back from vacation: maps, brochures, postcards, etc. There is a book in the far right upper corner which I haven't read in years and for some reason is now in my craft room. In the middle sets the background I've been working on.

After coming home, I did work and finish a new layout as well.

So, that's it for me. Hop on over to Julia's to view the other link-up's or to join in the fun. And have a great Wednesday!

WOYWW 375

Hello Deskers,

For the last 2 weeks, I hit every desk listed at Julia's blog. Well, except for those that I couldn't find a comment section (I think there was 1 person 2 weeks ago. And last week, there was one that I couldn't figure out which post was their WOYWW post.  Still Crazy that I've hit almost every desk! Crossing my fingers I can do it again.

You are here for crafty endeavors for the week. And let's face it: to see what happened to that mess of a desk from last week. Well as for crafty endeavors. Not a smidgen of creative activity.  However, the desk is cleaned up. The view yesterday evening, complete with a wine to sip.

Mere days ago, I spent some time putting my digital layouts into my daughter's albums. Yesterday I worked on my son's. You can also see the watercolor paper on the top section of the photo. I had used this to demonstrate the salt technique for an AJ class and think that this will be the first layer for new ATCs which I still have yet to work on. Since this photo, the desk is actually cleaned off again - to be nice and tidy.  AWE.  Now if I could get some time where I'm not exhausted by the other activities of life.

Wishing you all a craft happy week!

WOYWW 374 - A Mess I Tell Ya'

Getting Straight to the Mess this morning.

Although I did finally finish the layout that has been setting on it for the last 3 weeks. I couldn't find the right color of glitter paper but did find the right color of glitter. So after using my silhouette to cut out a cursive welded words, I applied glue and glitter. The glitter does come off a bit. I should have mixed it with gel medium instead. I think of that for art journaling but not for scrapbooking. Smacking myself in the head now.  The layout is under my composition book (that is where I keep my to do lists). I have some foam veggie trays that can be used for making my own stamps or for relief prints.

I have a clear container that I thought I'd see if all of my Shimelle collection would fit into it. The 12x12 pads don't work so well in it. Not to worry, I have a different container that I think will work. I just didn't have any more time. I still have the papers from the page kit I was working on and 2 more photos to do with those papers.

But I'm itching to get some mixed media going. Peggy aplSEEDS shared a site called atcforall when I was so excited about my first ATCs for the 7th anniversary. I just joined the site and am seriously anxious to get in on a couple of swaps.  (Thanks Peggy. I know your on holiday and probably won't read this.)

That's it for me. I will be visiting everyone tomorrow. As my washer has broken. The rubber seal needs replacing. I ordered the part yesterday, but it will be next week before it comes and hubs can repair.  So I am off this morning to the laundromat. ugh.

Visit all the work desks by jumping over to Julia's blog.

WOYWW 373

Welcome to my workdesk. If you want to join in the fun of seeing everyone's workdesk, please see Julia's blog.  She started this fun Wednesday sharing many, many moons ago. There is never any pressure, it's just when and what you want to share of your workdesk. I joined, took a couple of years break, and just started back this year again.  See no pressure.

Alright, on to my workdesk.  It looks exactly the same as 2 weeks ago, except that a bin of alphas is now on top. The same layout still sets there unfinished.  I will say after getting back from our trip last week I did have my travel art/Bible bag, my camera, a few things I picked up at the stores scattered on the top too. These items were cleaned off yesterday as I was determined to finish this layout. I'm usually a "just get it done" type and not a "I have to have the perfect thing to do it" type. Well, as I was working up the title yesterday, I realized that it would be so much better if I cut a cursive font out of glitter pink paper for part of the wording. I had the perfect color, but with glittered flower designs. I don't want flowers. I want solids (temper tantrum thrown in here). I've since pulled out pink flock and AC spark! tinsel in cotton candy that I could use and "get it done". BUT...NO. I just can't pull the plug. I guess it will wait until tomorrow. We have dentist appointments, so I'll hit the Michaels or Joann's afterwards for some pink glitter paper. (shaking my head at myself for being that way, but the heart wants what the heart wants.)

I do like to keep these posts short, but have to share my next endeavor. A lovely lady at the client site my hubs works for gave him some zucchinis from her garden. Since we got our deer fence up this year, but no garden out, I'm ever so thankful. Zucchini Relish will be started today and finished tomorrow. Yummy!

And crafting has been really at a minimum for me as we clean up the house and play in the pool.

For those that want to stop with the crafty related only, stop here.

My daughters health:

Thank you all for the well wishes for my daughter. She has been fighting something for years which I thought were food related, but could not isolate, but it was only once every so often, maybe 1x a week to 2x a month depending. In the fall of 2014 things escalated and she became sick most of the time. Traveling one day would lead to her being sick all week. We found out she was hypothyroid and have that straightened out. We took her off gluten, dairy, egg, soy, green beans. She still had some issues. We were able to add soy back in, but had to take out most food preservatives and all artificial colors and watermelon???, seriously, out. Still her tummy would hurt and her motion sickness did not improve. She had allergy testing. Allergic to 19 of the 29 common allergens. She is now on claritin for allergies and doing immunotherapy drops to see if we can desensitize her. However, she is suppose to be at 3 drops per day and is still at 1. They say it takes about 5 years for the therapy and 6mos to 1 year to see any real improvement. But at only 1 drop, I don't know how long that will be pushed out.  For her motion sickness, just to run to town she has to wear the patch that people wear on the cruise ships, but it's been working. She now may have a slight belly ache in the morning sometimes, and almost always has one at night, but she has been functioning during the day quite nicely. Blessings!  The dr. thinks that she suffers from abdominal migraines.

This was a diagnosis that we had earlier, but the medicine didn’t work. The diagnosis changed and that med didn’t work. The neurologist took her back to the migraine diagnosis and put her on a different med, and we are keeping our fingers crossed. He’s also suggested a counselor for biofeedback techniques. He made several other suggestions which we were already working on, so at least I feel we really have been on the right path.

Happy Wednesday to all.

WOYWW 372

Wait! What do you mean it's Wednesday already?!  I just was visiting some desks yesterday. Yeah, I'm that far behind this week.  Oh, heck, I'm that far behind THIS YEAR. ha.

Today my desk was beside the pool at the hotel. We're going to the neurologists this week for my daughter. So again this week I will be late to some desks. The doctors office is in the same town my husband has a client that he goes to each week. So we just tag along for the extra days - swim in the pool, sometimes sightseeing, and today -- Dave and Busters. Both of my tween and my teen are excited.

What did my work entail?  Hand lettering. What I realize is that I need more practice. Hand lettering is an easy on the go practice and activity.  I tend to not do it so much at home. It's great when I have down time at co-op or waiting for the kids at catechism, but it's summer and neither are going on.  I need to make more time for it.

So that's me this week. Happy Wednesday!

WOYWW 371

I've been wanting to share the lovely ATC's that I've received for our anniversary swap, but life has been too busy of late. Today I'm making the time to share them.

They are all so beautiful! I'm just thrilled with them!! I can't wait to work on mine for next year. I'll be including the cute cards, but not the fancy envelopes for mine next year.

Moving on, you're here to see my desk.  This is my Monday afternoon. I have some bits and pieces that need to be put away from my last crafting session. The box of stamps that I just paid shipping on, but otherwise, fairly clean as I do like to clean up between projects.

But as of yesterday, I had moved the stamps aside and pulled out another page kit. There is a page in progress with my bin of alphabet stickers setting on top of the desk to choose my title. I have 2 other photos with a different story that were in with the collection for the page kit propped up. In between the alphabet bin and the photos are the little leftover bits that have yet to be put away. From this view you can also see my computer desk with the silhouette and the stack of papers that always seems to be piled upon the corner. The pile changes, but always a pile. yes, I blurred it as the stack does contain medical papers for my dd's neurology appointment next week, and some bills. It also includes homeschool papers, blank midori styled inserts, a magazine and a joann's flyer.

That's how my desk looks this morning with the addition of my purse atop the pink alphabet stickers. Today I take my hubs to the dentist to have a tooth pulled. I don't see visiting many desks today, but will get to them tomorrow!  Happy Wednesday!

To view more desk, visit the lovely Lunch Lady Jan's blog!  (until next week when you'll be back at Julia's. Hurray!)

WOYWW 370 - 3 weeks of desk mayhem

So sorry to neglect sharing my workdesk, and well, posting in general, over the last 3 weeks. I was busy preparing for hubs birthday and father's day as well as to leave and then we were gone for 2 weeks. We basically had a 3 part trip: to husband's work town, to my sister's and to my father-in-law's. Lots of travel, family and fun! A trip well worth the time, however, it's good to be on our own turf again.

So here is my desk shares:
This was my desk 3 weeks ago.

This was my desk before we left with the exception of a new layout which I started the day before we left. See the nice new paper layer was put down too. My daughter thought it looked WAY too clean and doodled on it immediately. But that is hidden under the Making Memories magnetic mat.

And this was my desk yesterday morning, after getting home Sunday and piling stuff on the desk as per the usual dumping ground routine. But ....
there are lots of goodies that came from a trip to Hobby Lobby and a few stencils from Walmart. There is also the layout that was in progress when I left. I finally finished it last night after putting away my new goodies, and then pulled another pack of papers and photos to work with out.

That's my desk evolution over the last few weeks. If you want to see other workdesks, pop on over to our current hostess, Lunch Lady Jan's blog and view a few. And don't be shy, join in too.

Happy Wednesday!

WOYWW 366 - Straight to it.

Wednesday. Time for the weekly snooping of the desks.

The left side:
Under the paper cutter is the things purchased last week that need to be put away. To the right is scraps that I'm trying to decide if I should put in the scrap drawer or make something with them.  At the top is some print and cut items some from the silhouette shop and some from digital element kits.

And the right side:
My current in progress layout. My daughters roll of toilet paper that she is turning into an eyeglass holder. This is setting on top of some really beautiful ATCs that I've received this week.

Wishing our normal host Julia a speedy recovery from her surgery, and linking up with our lovely Lunch Lady Jan who is graciously hosting WOYWW in Julia's absence and keeping us apprised of her health.

WOYWW 365

It's Wednesday! Time to sneak a peak at everyone's desk.  The best part is you aren't going to be called a busy-body. You are actually encouraged to snoop! How great is that!?!  If you haven't played before, don't be shy, jump over to Jan's to link up this week. (Usually we're hosted by Julia, who we hope is recovering well after her surgery yesterday.)

OK, you want to see my desk.
Quite the mess, I know. A layout in progess on the bottom right a stack of bills and papers to be gone through. The working stack of papers and notions are on the left. In that mess you can also spy a bit of my ATCs.

These were my first EVER ATCs. I know they are rather simple as I got the hang of it. But they are quickly addicting!

I then made a shabby chic version to send to my "*" friend. I'll actually be mailing.

I actually have *Cindy A's, Kelly H's, and Lynne M's left to go out. Living in a small town, our post is only open a couple of hours a day, and with the holiday and our life schedules, Friday will be the first day for the errand.

Is it Cra-zy that I have already come up with a concept for next years swap???  Plus several others. I could see these little pieces taking over my life.  Good thing I really don't have any time. That's it for me. Off to see some desks.

WOYWW 364 -7th Anniversary

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday is the brain child of Julia over at the Stamping Ground.  Today is the 7th year anniversary of showing off your crafty goodness every Wednesday.  Although Julia is out of commission for the next couple of weeks, Workdesk Wednesday does not stop. Lunch Lady Jan is hosting and you can find the link-ups there today.

My workdesk:

The last person to use my workdesk was my daughter. Thus her owl notepad and the bottles of spray inks are all haphazardly turned over and not upright setting nicely on the side. The scissors aren't in their spot. But the rest of the mess was from my last crafting.  Oh, and she left my mat all gross. Bleh!!

I am still working on my ATCs. I was hoping to have them completed today, but home chores, and cards that needed to be handed out last Sunday, took over my life since last Wednesday.  -- It's also the reason I have not visited many desks from last week. My sincerest apologies. I will do better this week. --   I have set aside Thursday and Friday if needed to finish up these cards.  You can see a couple of bases on the desk. Some others are on the stamping desk.  They all still need to be adhered to some chipboard and have their backs put on.

Mine will be posted either Friday or Saturday of this week.

These are the people I know I'll be swapping with now, but I can swap with more if there are more interested. You can email me (in my profile on the sidebar or leave a comment).

I have
1. SylviaH
2. Annie P and (thus twiglet Still need her address)
3. Nikki C
4. Shaz B
5. Debbie R
6. Lisca M
7. Kelly (whom I think I archived the gmail instead of putting it in the folder, sometimes I’m not the brightest bulb, so I’ll need to get again.)

  Happy Wednesday!!
